On October 26th, 2015, Google introduced RankBrain as part of the core search algorithm. What makes this core update different from Penguin, Panda, and Hummingbird is that Google now uses machine learning (the ability to learn from data inputs) to determine the best search results for any search query. Prior to RankBrain, Google used a basic algorithm to deliver search results. Fast forward to 2021 and we will see a greater emphasis on user experience (data quantified as factors such as Bounce Rate, Time on Site, Location, Search Intent, etc.) as the primary signal for ranking.
Work on optimizing your website so that it is easy to use, so users can have the best experience possible. Make it easy for visitors to navigate through your site and find the information they are looking for without having to get lost and end up frustrated and leaving your site – because that would tell Google that users are having a bad time and then it would rank you lower.
SEO Tip #2 – Add Video
I’ve been saying this for years: Add more video to your site. With smartphones and fun apps, you no longer need to invest in multi-million dollar video production equipment to create professional-quality videos. What you still need to do is have a creative marketing message that stands out and resonates with your target audience.

In 2015, mobile searches surpassed desktop searches for the first time and it has been that way ever since. Since we are all looking at websites more often from our phones, website developers need to think mobile-first. In this process, image optimization is key to a speedy site. Even though mobile speeds are far faster than in the early days of 3G, oversized images will slow down your website and potentially turning away customers.
